Members of an agitated crowd often display their emotional state through vocal expressions. When chanting or shouting occurs, especially when accompanied by offensive language, it signals a significant level of agitation and potential hostility. This type of behavior indicates that the crowd is not only involved but also might be escalating in aggression or dissatisfaction.

Chanting and shouting can serve as a rallying point for the crowd, generating a collective emotional response that heightens the overall tension of the situation. In contrast, behaviors such as backing away from each other, deliberate communication, or minimal interaction among members suggest a lower level of agitation or even an attempt to de-escalate. Therefore, the presence of loud verbal expressions combined with offensive language stands out as a clear indicator of increasing agitation among crowd members.
